The Cheese Misunderstanding

by tarashea on April 26, 2011 ·

Our Connect Group at church has recently started the Love and Respect Marriage class. Josh and I are really excited about going through this class together with some other couples. One of the main things that Dr. Emerson Eggerichs points out is how different men and women communicate. Men see through blue glasses, and women see through pink glasses. We are constantly misunderstanding one another because of this, and it can be frustrating.

I have the perfect example of this. I was starting to prep a couple of my dishes for Easter lunch on Saturday night. I realized that I had forgotten to buy parmesan cheese when I went to the store earlier that day. I asked Josh if he could walk down to the store and pick some up for me. (We love living within walking distance of our grocery store!) He said no problem, and was on his way. (Such a great Husband! :-) )

He came home and handed me the sack. I look in and freak out. He had bought the Kraft parmesan cheese that is kind of powdery, and I needed the grated kind that you buy in the plastic zip bag. He immediately said, “You did not say what kind!” I fired back with, “You didn’t ask! I never buy the powdery kind!!”

So the poor guy heads back to the store to exchange the dang cheese…LOL

About five minutes later he calls me from the store. Apparently he cannot find shredded parmesan cheese. I told him I have bought it there a million times. Ok, maybe not that much. :-) Come to find out, the store was completely out of it. Boo. I decide that I can use mozzerella instead.

Once again, he comes home and hands me the sack…IT WAS A BLOCK OF CHEESE?! Did we not already go through the whole shredded thing?! All we could do was laugh…I pulled out my hand grater and began to shred the dang cheese. Gracious!

Is that not the most perfect example?! Ultimately I made it work, and it turned out fine. However, this is why I always do the grocery shopping. :-)
